About us

  • Pilsen Folklore Group Mladina was founded in 1954 under the name Škoda Plzeň. Since 1994 the group has worked under the name Mladina (that means young beer) and in this way the group promotes the Pilsen tradition - good beer. Mladina presents the music and dancing mainly from the area South-west Bohemia.

  • The group co-operates with prominent music experts and choreographs (Jaroslav Krček, Josef Krček, Josef Fiala, Jaroslava Smolová, Libuše Hynková, Miloš Vršecký) and besides, the group creates its own choreographies and music.

  • The group presents regularly the Czech folk art in many festivals and performances, at home and abroud. The group has visited many countries of Europe, the U.S.A., and Japan several times. In 1986, the group won first-prizes in the Foklore Olympionics in French Dijon (the category of stylized folklore and the best music). In 1997, the group Mladina had a big success at the music festival Prague Spring 1997.

  • The group´s main sponsor and the most imortant partner is The Elementary School of Martin Luther in Plzeň. The group practices there regularly twice a week.
